Workshop West Playwrights' Theatre
Workshop West Playwrights' Theatre is the beating heart of new play development in Edmonton — and has been since 1978. Our mission is singular and vital: to discover, nurture, and premiere original Canadian stories before anyone else has heard them, while also giving vital second life to celebrated Canadian works that deserve to be seen again. Every new script we produce has passed through our hands first — shaped in workshops, tested in readings, sharpened in dramaturgy — long before it reaches an audience. That means when you walk into a Workshop West production, you might be witnessing the very first breath of a story that didn't exist anywhere in the world until we helped bring it to life — or experiencing a beloved Canadian play made new again. In a city rich with theatrical talent, we're both writing and honouring Canada's stories, one bold voice at a time.

Last Supper
by Conni Massing

A snowstorm. A cancelled flight. An unexpected dinner invitation. And a disillusioned chef.

When the next-door neighbour arrives with a surprise ingredient, the plot — like a good sauce — starts to thicken.
